Qabbani Calls for Cooperation in Cabinet despite Disagreements
Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani called for preserving cooperation within the cabinet, “no matter what the disagreements were.”
He praised the cabinet’s work under the supervision of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and asked all parties practice of prudence when voicing their political stances. He added all should support the cabinet, abandon political bickering and defy the attacks on Siniora.
Qabbani regretted that some were using tense speeches against the atmospheres of truce in contradiction to the Doha Accord, especially before the upcoming parliamentary elections, which “should take place transparently.”
He also said the accusations made against Saudi Arabia and Egypt aimed to obstruct their efforts to unify the Arab community and help the Palestinian people.
