Phalange Party Launches Election Campaign

Phalange Party Central Committee Coordinator Sami Gemayel on Sunday launched the party”s election campaign, stating that "we compete for the cause and not for parliamentary seats."

"Our election alliances would be based on this principle and would be a political battle," Gemayel told a party gathering aimed at launching the election campaign.
Gemayel said maintaining weapons in times of peace means that such organizations are "militias, while maintain weapons in wartimes means that such groups are resistance" factions.

"Our problem is not with Hizbullah and the Shiite community… our problem is with the illegal weapons possessed by Hizbullah," Gemayel stressed.

"The Christians would be strong as long as the Phalange Party is strong," Gemayel announced.

The Match 14 "uprising, was not against the Syrian occupation only, it was an uprising against the deteriorating status of the Christians," Gemayel explained.
