Non-Politicized Investigation Ensures Wiretapping Regulations Do Not Obstruct Investigations
The National Liberal Party released a statement after its weekly meeting, presided over by Dori Chamoun on Friday, calling for the formation of a non-politicized investigation commission into the wiretapping issue.
The NLP expressed its concern that the new wiretapping regulations might obstruct the ability of the security services to obtain important intelligence, as although some security measures necessitated monitoring, the restrictions and laws on phone surveillance might prevent authorities from properly addressing illegal activity.
The statement said that some parties were making statements on the issue, as if they themselves were not suspects.
