Abu Faour says wiretapping is rampant
Minister of State Wael Abu Faour told the Voice of Lebanon radio station on Friday that no agreement was likely to be reached over the wiretapping issue, which has been the center of controversy for the past two weeks.
He noted there was a remarkable number of wiretapping operations, as “no one knows [which party] has the most sophisticated equipment.”
He added that this problem remained unresolved, not because of the lack of cooperation but rather because some had withheld information, causing the obstruction of the information flow.
He concluded that the cabinet had to reach an agreement over the 2009 draft budget; otherwise, it would not be properly implemented, “just like the previous budgets were not.”
