The progress of the country is in your hands

A dinner was organized Saturday by St. Charbel association at “Nasmat” restaurant, with the presence of the Leader of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, the MP Strida Geagea and the MP Elie Kairouz.

The LF leader prepared a speech destined to all voters saying that Lebanese vote every four years and remain unsatisfied about the way the state is governed during this period. He assured that the progress of the country or its regress is in their hands, “since we can’t vote every four years against our principles preferring our personal benefit on that of the public one. Despite all situations in Lebanon, we still have an acceptable degree of democracy”.

Geagea criticized same old politics that started using new ways in hope of winning the upcoming elections, like asking questions trying to seem innocent: “you have been waiting 30 years for the Lebanese Forces, and when they arrived what did they offer you”?. Geagea replied: “I would have preferred if those politicians would keep silence considering that if we give them an account check of all their actions the results wouldn’t be honoring for them.

During the dinner, Geagea tackled the subject of wiretapping and questioned the intentions of the telecommunication minister, saying: "There is a question mark regarding the behavior of Minister Bassil who has overstepped his authority."

Geagea said he supported Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt’s concerns regarding the performance of Lebanon’s military institutions.

Geagea said that every person had the right to raise questions about the role of any state institution. He also criticized the reaction of March 8 alliance members, saying “they remembered to support the army when Jumblatt raised some questions, but forgot it when the issue is connected with decisions of war and peace, illegal weapons and Palestinian arms outside the refugee camps.”

He called on those who care about the military to make efforts to collect weapons outside legitimate institutions and to give the cabinet the sole authority to make war and peace decisions.
