A hand grenade went off early Thursday in Beirut”s Nuwairi neighborhood, causing no casualties.
The state-run National News Agency said the blast took place at 6:30 am in an abandoned two-story building.
It said Lebanese army troops and police swiftly cordoned off the area and opened an investigation into the incident.
The Voice of Lebanon radio station, however, said an assailant riding a motorcycle tossed the grenade on the building in Nuwairi”s Nahhal neighborhood.
