Souaid rules out any delay or threat against upcoming elections
March 14 coalition general coordinator Fares Souaid told Voice of Lebanon radio station on Monday that “cancelling the elections would be the result of a power that overpasses that of the Lebanese parties”. He pointed out that parliamentary elections are not threatened and will be held as scheduled on June 7.
He added that the Lebanese are witnessing two different situations. “The first one is that of March 14. It underscores the necessity to run politics through pacific and democratic means. As for the second scene, which refers to the other camp, it favors practicing politics through weapons” he said.
Souaid said the “Lebanese State should be responsible for assuring the citizens, standing firm, being capable of managing events and tackling the electoral battle security issue”.
