Jumblat at Zeineddine Funeral: Army Did its Duty and We Await Justice
Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat said Monday that the Lebanese army has fulfilled its duty and arrested the culprits in a knife attack on PSP member Lutfi Zeineddine.
"The Lebanese army did its duty and we await justice to take its course," Jumblat said during the funeral of Zeineddine in his hometown of Shbaniyeh in Upper Metn.
Jumblat played down the incident, stressing it was not politically-motivated.
The Druze leader said he has contacted Army Commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji "who promised to take appropriate measures against violators."
"Bkirki as well as other national figures and entire Lebanon be it March 8 or 14 take part today in the funeral of Zeineddine," Jumblat told mourners at the funeral.
Turning to the Zeineddine family, Jumblat vowed that the "march for Lebanon and for coexistence shall continue."
"Only the government, the army, the police and justice can protect us," Jumblat concluded.
