Elections will prove March 8 is a minority
Speaking to Future News television on Wednesday, MP Samir Franjieh said March 8 coalition is facing the problem of the upcoming parliamentary elections, which will prove that it is the minority in Lebanon.
According to him, March 8 coalition fears the formation of a centrist bloc, because its independent candidates reject the presence of two armies and states. He added that some want to obstruct the elections, and some aim to prevent it from being held.
Addressing Change and Reform bloc leader, he said MP Michel Aoun pointed out that he wants to postpone the elections. Hezbollah’s secretary general Hassan Nasrallah called for providing the opposition with the obstructing third vote, he added.
Franjieh also stated that the Cabinet still has not reached an agreement over the Council for South’s budget. This issue will be difficult to accomplish, and this is one of the disadvantages of the obstructing third vote, because the state institutions cannot work properly if every controversial issue needs a consensus.
