Breakthrough Reached in Budget Crisis

Finance Minister Mohammed Shatah on Wednesday said a breakthrough has been reached in the Council for the South budget.

"A serious, non-politicized debate is underway over additional funds required by the Council," Shatah told LBC.

He said the breakthrough, reached during a meeting held on Tuesday, calls for informing Cabinet of the projects intended to be achieved by the Council for approval.

In a separate interview with Future News TV, Shatah said Tuesday”s meeting tackled additional funds for Council projects.

He said a meeting on the additional funds would be held Wednesday "and if agreement is reached then the crisis is over."
