Rifi Urges ISF to Remain Neutral During Elections
Internal Security Forces chief Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi urged the ISF to remain neutral in the upcoming parliamentary elections, saying measures will be taken against those who violate his orders.
Security forces "should not interfere in anything related to the elections and should stay neutral and on equal stance from all candidates," Rifi said in a communiqué.
The ISF should also "not get involved in politics, avoid attending political meetings and conferences or interfere and influence in a direct or indirect way the election process and the citizens” political orientation," the communiqué added.
Rifi said "the general directorate of the Internal Security Forces will not neglect taking the appropriate professional measures regarding the violators."
He issued another directorate lauding the work of ISF officers on citizen IDs ahead of the June 7 elections.
