Bellemare Pays Farewell Visits to Berri, Saniora
Chief U.N. investigator Daniel Bellemare on Monday paid farewell visits to Speaker Nabih Berri and Premier Fouad Saniora as the international tribunal gears up for the start of its operations.
Bellemare will become the general prosecutor of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon which will start functioning in The Hague on March 1.
The court”s registrar, Robin Vincent, said Sunday that a request would be submitted to the Lebanese authorities for the transfer to The Hague of investigation files and those in Lebanese custody within a period of two months from the day the court starts operations.
