Certain Parties Want To Return To Period before Doha Agreement
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said, “the incidents taking place domestically do not benefit anyone…. and are not in the interest of Lebanon and its people.”
Geagea told reporters on Wednesday that “political and street demonstrations were proof that certain parties want to return to the period before the Doha Agreement.”
“The aim of the incidents are to obstruct the [upcoming parliamentary] elections,” but Geagea said that “the elections must be held in one day without delay.”
Asked if the LF was going to replace MP George Adwan with head of the National Liberal Party leader Dory Chamoun for one of the Maronite seats in the Chouf region, Geagea said, “There are three Maronite seats in the Chouf, so no one can be replaced.”
Geagea said that “the March 14 electoral lists for all regions are still being discussed and we, as allies, respect each other.”
Geagea said the campaign against the participation of Lebanese emigrants in the elections was a result of March 14’s greater popularity among the emigrant community.
