Ministry of the Displaced Obtains Significant Advance
Democratic Gathering MP and former Minister of the Displaced Nehmeh Tohmeh said in a statement on Monday that he valued the cabinet’s decision to give an additional advance to the ministry, so it could conclude the return of those displaced during the civil war.
Tohmeh said that the advance proved that the cabinet viewed the return of the displaced as a priority and would fulfill an important article of the Taif Accord.
He also called for concluding reconciliation in the remaining villages and for finishing the reconstruction projects, noting that the people were ready to reconcile and return to their villages.
Tohmeh said that it did not matter if some considered the advance to be serving electoral ends, as long as the displaced were the beneficiaries.
