Tribunal Prevents Criminals from Escaping Punishment
National Bloc leader Carlos Eddé said in a statement issued on Monday that the launching of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon was a necessary step that was taken in the long struggle of the Lebanese to ensure justice and to stop criminals from escaping punishment, a thing rampant during the Syrian domination, he said.
He also said that the beginning of the court’s work on March 1 proved that a united people could achieve their goals and impose their will on states. Eddé urged those behind terrorist acts to reconsider their policies, especially since the tribunal manifested the international community’s attempt to punish those responsible for such acts.
