Qabbani urges Lebanese leaders to calm tensions
Grand Mufti Mohammad Rashid Qabbani urged on Monday Lebanese leaders and religious figures to cooperate and avoid dragging the Lebanese people into the streets to fight out political tension.
After meeting with the head of the Journalists Union, Melhem Karam, in Dar al-Fatwa, Qabbani urged local leaders to resort to dialogue to resolve their differences and lauded President Michel Sleiman”s efforts to that end. Karam in turn conveyed the mufti”s support for national institutions as the sole means to bridge political differences.
