Maronite Bishops: Parliamentary Elections Do Not Require Such “Mobilization”
The Council of Maronite Bishops slammed on Wednesday what it called "fabricated" stories about the patriarchy, and criticized "mobilization" ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The Bishops discussed during their monthly meeting "fabricated" news reports about the patriarchy, Bishop Youssef Tawq said, urging journalists to abide by media laws and ethics.
He said a Maronite Bishop”s name has been "fabricated" by a media outlet.
About the June 7 elections, Tawq said: "The upcoming elections do not require such mobilization," adding that polls in democratic countries with huge populations are usually held "without hassle."
The Bishops” statement added that the deteriorating situation necessitates that "we close ranks" and fortify brotherly relations.
