We Will Launch Our Electoral Campaign on March 14
The March 14 coalition announced on Wednesday that it will launch its election campaign on March 14.
The March 14 forces continue to work hard "to hold the elections in a peaceful and democratic spirit that would pave the way for the election of a parliamentary majority," said a statement by the alliance”s Secretariat-General.
"In this regard, the March 14 forces announce that they will launch their electoral campaign on March 14 during their second general conference that will be held in BIEL at 3:00 pm," the coalition said after the general-secretariat”s weekly meeting.
The statement welcomed the establishment of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon that would try ex-Premier Rafik Hariri”s suspected assassins and urged "everyone to consider its launch a historic step towards achieving justice and ending impunity."
It also condemned "all forms of attacks on Lebanese religious authorities," particularly recent verbal attacks on the Maronite Patriarchy.
The March 14 statement said Hizbullah hasn”t yet proposed a defense strategy at national dialogue sessions.
It stressed that U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 has made it clear that there should be no weapons without the consent of the Lebanese government which should extend its control over all Lebanese territory.
