Supreme Judicial Council Appointments Long Due
Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar told Future News television on Saturday that it was normal for the Supreme Judicial Council to approve judicial appointments, after they have been postponed for many years.
Najjar said those who voiced reservations about the appointments were actually expressions of political views presented in a subjective and unstudied manner. “I also have some reservations but I prioritize the work of judicial institutions,” he said.
He noted the memorandum of understanding between Lebanon and the Special Tribunal into the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri would be a priority when Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and Minister of State Khalid Qabbani return from Yemen.
