March 8’s Only Hope Is March 14’s Divide
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra said that the March 8 coalition’s only hope in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Batroun, as well as in all the other regions, was for the March 14 alliance to run in the elections divided. He said that such a hope should not be given to the opposition.
During an electoral gathering in Batroun on Monday, Zahra said that March 14 would have two MPs in the district, adding that it would only have one candidate for each seat and that the matter was already settled.
Zahra also said that the LF announced months ago that its five current MPs would re-run in the 2009 elections. Zahra said his party was still holding discussions with the Kataeb, as well as all March 14 allies, to successively announce their common electoral lists.
He concluded that the March 14 lists would be announced when the time was right and based on an electoral strategy chosen by the majority.
