Rapprochement with Murr Doesn”t Mean he has Authority to Make Alliances
Minister Nassib Lahoud stressed on Sunday that rapprochement with MP Michel Murr does not mean he has authorized him to make alliances in the Metn province.
"We will enter into alliance with factions which we were in confrontation with (in the past). This rapprochement is possible because there were improvements in MP Michel Murr”s stances," Lahoud said in a press conference.
He said Murr opposed the obstruction of the presidential election and supported the seat of the Maronite church and its principles.
"This development in his stances leads to rapprochement. However, this possibility does not mean that we authorized MP Murr to form the alliances in Metn," Lahoud stressed. "His vision of the (electoral) battle in the northern Metn is different from ours."
He said Metn wants a "political race" during the elections.
"We will agree through talks and discussions how to divide seats because the race is not based on division of shares," Lahoud said.
"The Metn is full of potential and highly credible women and men … We do not favor importing candidates from outside" the province, the minister added.
