Judicial Formations Best of What Was Possible
Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar said Monday that the recent judicial formations were "the best of what was possible" adding he had a duty to allow their release, despite personal reservations.
Najjar dismissed a reporter”s claim that MP Michel Aoun had expressed discontent for not being privy to the formations and said: "I don”t think that Gen. Aoun made such a statement. In anyway I did not make that privy to any politician. Let”s keep politics far removed from the judiciary."
Najjar on Monday received the Higher Judicial Council headed by Judge Ghaleb Ghanem.
The justice minister called for everyone to see the positive side of the judiciary adding that Lebanon has an honest judiciary that should be strengthened.
Concerning the memorandum of understanding with the general prosecutor for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Najjar said: "It has been agreed that this issue should be removed for now from the media."
Asked whether a proposal by state minister Khaled Qabbani to amend the memo would be considered, Najjar replied: "Qabbani knows what he is talking about."
