Nadim Gemayel, the son of slain President-elect Bachir Gemayel, on Wednesday launched a critique of Lebanese parties allied with pro-Syrian groups.
“Do those allied with the Syrian Social Nationalists, Baathists and the Syrian regime represent the line of Bachir? Or those attending the celebrations of the Syrian Social Nationalists, cheering the criminal Habib Shartouni?” Gemayel asked, referring to the SSNP supporter held responsible for the murder of his father. “Or those who concede a seat in the South to the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and shift their candidate to the Beirut I district to face the children of Achrafieh, Rmeil and Saifi, who follow in the steps of Bachir Gemayel?”
Gemayel, a candidate for the Maronite seat in the first district of Beirut, said “the battle will not stop on June 7;” the date of the elections, “for our battle is that of a new generation.”
Gemayel called on the Lebanese to cooperate and stand together to restore Lebanon’s independence, freedom and sovereignty and build “a strong and modern civilization.”
