Progress Made toward Witness Protection Program
Registrar of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon Robin Vincent said that progress has been made toward the Witness Protection Program that would protect witnesses before, during and after the trial in the assassination case of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri.
In an interview with the daily Al Mustaqbal published Friday, Vincent said "significant progress" has been made in ongoing negotiations with a number of countries toward the Witness Protection Program.
He indicated that a number of agreements would soon be signed in this regard.
Vincent said the international tribunal has witnessed "tangible progress" since it got underway March 1, stressing that "this court would prove to be effective."
He promised to circulate a report, still under preparation, among the media in a period not later than a week. The report is to include official data about the court since its launch until this day.
