Democratically “shameful” to hold elections without Constitutional Council
Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar on Sunday said it was democratically “shameful” to carry out the upcoming parliamentary elections without the Constitutional Council having been formed.
During an interview with LBC on Sunday, Najjar associated the adoption of the state budget with the appointment of the five remaining members of the Constitutional Council.
“If agreement is reached over the state budget, it is possible to agree on the appointment of the Constitutional Council’s members,” Najjar said.
Najjar also stated there were considerable efforts being made to reach a consensus and adopt the state budget for 2009, as well as to pass the 2006, 2007 and 2008 budgets.
