Ongoing Negotiations Surrounding Administrative Appointments
The matter of administrative appointments persists as all political blocs continue to focus on the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Media reports said Monday that the issue of administrative appointments has returned to the spotlight amid efforts to discuss the topic at this week”s cabinet session.
The debate revolves around the appointment of the five remaining constitutional council members and the posts of the governors of Beirut and Mount Lebanon as well as the interior ministry”s director-general for political affairs.
An-Nahar and As-Safir newspapers reported on Monday that the process of making the appointments is still in its early stages and will require further dialogue.
Some have suggested that it might be easier to take on first the appointment of the four deputies of the Central Bank”s governor.
