Appointment of Syrian ambassador a major accomplishment
In a meeting with Lebanese Forces supporters from Jbeil on Wednesday, Lebanese Forces leader MP Samir Geagea said the appointment of a Syrian ambassador to Lebanon was a “big and historical” accomplishment that had significant indications.
Geagea said this step should be followed by resolving the existing problems between Lebanon and Syria, such as releasing Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons, dismantling Syrian proxy groups, prohibiting Palestinian weapons outside the refugee camps and demarking the Lebanese-Syrian borders, especially those around the Shebaa Farms.
Geagea also said that his party was the only party that was participating in the elections in most of the districts and regions. He added that in the districts where the party did not have its own candidates, such as in Hasbaya-Marjayoun, it would support other March 14 candidates in order to “reinforce freedom throughout Lebanon.”
The party leader highlighted the importance of March 14 alliance’s unity to attain its objectives. “The LF is acting in a way that ensures such unity, because we do not seek a certain share of parliamentary seats, and our history proves it.” Geagea said that all the allies in March 14 shared the same view.
Geagea said the March 8 coalition did not include the economic, social and development issues in its campaign agenda.
