Kidnapped Lebanese Woman Freed in Venezula after One Month Ordeal
A kidnapped Lebanese female has been freed in the Venezuela after security forces clashed with the kidnappers, killing two and arresting five, the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) said Tuesday.
Gunmen snatched 31-year old Feryal Darwish Issa, a mother of two, on March 9 only meters away from her residence in the Venezuelan island of Margarita and later contacted her husband, Adnan Issa, for ransom.
WLCU president Ahmed Nasser thanked Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez "for taking a personal interest in the case" in addition to Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh and Venezuela”s Ambassador to Lebanon Souad Karam.
He praised the efforts of the government and security forces to secure Issa”s release.
