Khansa’s release gives hope that security zones will cease to exist
The National Liberal Party issued a statement after its weekly meeting on Friday supporting the Maronite Bishop Council’s concerns about the prevalent hesitation in announcing candidate names for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
The statement called for making the pending administrative appointments, especially those necessary for the electoral process.
The NLP also praised security forces’ efforts to release Amin al-Khansa, 14, who was kidnapped on Monday in Ghobeiri but was returned home safely on Thursday, adding that the efforts regained the people’s confidence in state institutions. The statement read that the incident’s positive outcome gave people hope that “we might see the day when illegitimate arms and security zones will no longer exist.”
The NLP said that the people would vote between two agendas: Either to support the state and its constitution in legitimate Arab and international arenas or to support a state-within-state working for regional axes.
