Jumblat Denies he Took Part in March 14 Quartet Meeting

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat denied that he took part in a meeting that brought together Mustaqbal movement leader Saad Hariri, Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea and Phalange party head Amin Gemayel.

Jumblat told As Safir newspaper in remarks published Saturday that he was in the Mountains and didn”t participate in Thursday”s meeting in Qoreitem.

Hariri, Geagea and Gemayel held another round of talks Friday night, according to As Safir.

Mustaqbal sources also denied that the four top leaders of the March 14 coalition held a meeting on Thursday night, according to Pan-Arab daily al-Hayat.

The movement will hold a rally at BIEL on Sunday, where Hariri will announce the party”s electoral program. The names of candidates, however, will not be revealed until next week.

Meanwhile, An Nahar daily said that the majority”s list in the Shouf has been finalized. It includes Jumblat and MP Marwan Hamadeh for the Druze seats. Dory Chamoun and MPs George Adwan and Elie Aoun are running for the Maronite seats. Minister Nehmeh Tohme, a Catholic, and MPs Alaeddine Terro and Mohammed al-Hajjar, who are Sunnis, will also run in the elections in the same list.
