Lebanon’s sovereignty at stake on June 7
MP Michel Pharaon stated that the future of the Lebanese state will be defined by June 7th elections. He noted a threat against Lebanon’s sovereignty, freedom, democracy and the defense strategy if the majority and independent candidates lost the elections.
In an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai on Saturday, Pharaon accused some parties of willing to obstruct the State’s work if they lost the elections. He noted their interests contradicted national ones.
Pharaon also criticized Deputy Prime Minister Issam Abu Jamra’s nomination in the Beirut I district, saying Abu Jamra “fell from a parachute” into the district. Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun failed to have Abu Jamra nominated in Marjayoun upon disagreement with his allies, he explained.
