March 14″s Lists Nearing Completion in North
After a series of meetings and calls over the past few days, March 14 is reportedly putting the final touches on its electoral list in the north.
Press reports on Thursday indicated that meetings and communications between Mustaqbal movement leader Saad Hariri, former PM Najib Miqati, and Economy Minister Mohammed Safadi have brought the March 14 lists close to completion.
Ad-Diyar newspaper reported that a deal was being finalized that would give Miqati a total of four seats: two Sunni seats in Tripoli, one seat in Minyeh-Dinniyeh, and one more seat in Akkar. Additionally, one seat would be given to Safadi in Minyeh-Dinniyeh.
Various press reports indicated that this arrangement would mean that Mosbah Ahdab would be excluded from the March 14″s list in the north and replaced with former MP Ahmed Karami.
Al Hayat reported that one of the sticking points has been Safadi”s insistence on including MP Qassem Abdul Aziz whereas others have wanted to replace him.
Safadi has also remained committed to the candidacy of Fadi Ghantous over Robert Fadel for the Orthodox seat in Tripoli, according to As-Safir newspaper.
