Arab League to Oversee Legislative Polls
The Arab League will oversee the upcoming polls in cooperation with international organizations to ensure "transparency," the Arab body”s envoy to Lebanon told Interior Minister Ziad Baroud Saturday.
"Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa has officially charged the body to oversee the legislative elections alongside international institutions to ensure transparency," said Arab League Ambassador Abdul Rahman al-Solh.
"After sponsoring the election of Lebanon”s president, the Arab League”s involvement in the elections is part of its efforts to bolster democracy, state-building, the rule of law and the constitution," Solh told Baroud.
