We Will Not Hand Western Bekaa-Rashaya Over to “Fake Leaderships”
MP Saad Hariri said Monday that the majority will not "surrender" the Western Bekaa-Rashaya district to what he described as the candidates of "foreign tutelage."
Hariri was speaking at a public event in Rashaya where he announced the March 14 ticket in the district.
"They wanted to impose fake leaderships on you. They robbed the poor of their money and stained their hands with blood. So we tell them we will not surrender the Western Bekaa and Rashaya to your likes, the candidates of foreign tutelage," Hariri told a cheering crowd.
"We have walked a long and arduous road, rigged with assassinations, explosions and divisions. But not once did we lose side of the goal," he added.
"The people of this district will vote in throngs on June 7 for state-building and for dignity. They will vote for the dignity of Lebanon, of Beirut and for what was done to Beirut. They will vote for Lebanon and Palestine to say that Palestine is our cause," Hariri said.
The Palestinian cause is not "a commodity in a regional bazaar for rejection," he added.
Concluding his speech, Hariri said the list of candidates in the Western Bekaa-Rashaya included Minister Robert Ghanem, Minister Wael Abu Faour, MP Jamal Jarrah, MP Antoine Saad, Amin Wehbeh and Ziad al-Qaderi.
