Jezzine: Berri Considers Azar a Red Line, Aoun Adamant
Hizbullah continued mediating between Speaker Nabih Berri and Free Patriotic Movement leader Gen. Michel Aoun in order to resolve the discord over the Jezzine district list.
Aoun still insists on excluding MP Samir Azar from the list while Berri, according to pan-Arab daily al-Hayat, stresses that Azar is a "red line."
MP Yassine Jaber confirmed to Voice of Lebanon radio on Friday that the issue of Azar is creating discord in Jezzine.
Al-Hayat said that Hizbullah is trying to convince Aoun into keeping Azar in the list so that the opposition does not run in the elections in Jezzine in two lists against the ticket of the March 14 forces.
As Safir newspaper, in its turn, ruled out a comprehensive agreement between Berri and Aoun.
Informed sources, however, told the Central News Agency that Aoun will possibly get his three Christian candidates Ziad Aswad, Michel Helou and Issam Sawaya which means that Azar has been excluded from the opposition”s list.
CNA also said that Aoun might be seeking to form a list that would run against the March 8 ticket.
