Opposition’s “political line and agenda” condemned
Mufti of Mount Lebanon Sheikh Mohammad Ali al-Jouzou criticized the opposition’s political line and agenda, and called on the Lebanese to vote according to their principles.
In a statement issued on Monday, Jouzou slammed the opposition and cited its obstruction of constitutional institutions, its shutting down of the parliament for a year and a half, and its withdrawal from the cabinet in objection to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. He also cited the opposition’s obstructing third vote, which paralyzed the current cabinet, and the opposition’s use of weapons against the citizens of Beirut, the Mountain, Tripoli and the Bekaa, a reference to the May 7 events when Hezbollah supporters took over West Beirut.
Jouzou also said that there were people “who did not obstruct or attack others,” a reference to March 14 leaders, adding that they sent thousands of young people to universities to contribute in Lebanon’s development. He concluded that those did not attack the Lebanese army or the Internal Security Forces.
