March 14 Forces Involved in Generals” Arrest
Deputy chief of Hizbullah Sheik Naim Qassem reiterated Sunday that Lebanon”s top four generals have been arrested for political motives and said the majority March 14 coalition was involved in their detention.
"We want to uncover the truth behind the Hariri crime. We want to uncover those who misled the investigation for four years and embroiled Lebanon in conflicts," Qassem said as he announced Hizbullah”s electoral platform in Baalbek.
He was referring to former head of the presidential guard, Mustafa Hamdan, security services director Jamil Sayyed, security chief Ali Hajj, and military intelligence chief Raymond Azar. They were released April 29 from nearly four years in custody without charge.
Qassem also reiterated Hizbullah”s demand for the accountability of the Lebanese judges "who committed a mistake against their country."
"Let judicial investigation take its course and we shall accept the results no matter what," Qassem added.
The main point of Hizbullah”s platform ahead of the general elections, according to Qassem, was power-sharing within the government.
"Either they (March 14) participate as part of the whole group. If they reject participation, the state will carry on and the government will make it," Qassem said.
The other points of the platform include "dealing with corruption and bribes, fulfilling political, administrative, social and economic reforms as well as a call for building a strong state – a state which gets strength from its army, resistance and people."
