Jbeil core list does not eliminate possible cooperation with independents
Coordinator of the March 14 General Secretariat Fares Soueid told the Voice of Lebanon radio station on Monday that announcing the core list of the March 14 alliance in the Jbeil district for the upcoming parliamentary elections does not eliminate the possibility of cooperation with the independent candidates in the district.
He said that the core list included former MP Mahmoud Awad and himself, leaving one empty seat for an independent candidate.
Soueid added that there were rumors in Jbeil about a list that included the former advisor to the president, Nazem Khoury, and former MP Emile Nawfal, something which could be interpreted as an attempt to distance March 14 from the independents.
The coordinator said that there could be two or three lists in Jbeil, depending on March 14’s ability to form a joint list with the independents against the opposition’s list.
