Independent Candidates Announce Jbeil List
Independent parliamentary candidates announced their electoral list for the Jbeil district which includes Nazem Khoury, Emile Naufal and Mustafa al-Husseini.
Former advisor to the president Nazem Khoury announced “Independent Decision of Jbeil” list for the upcoming parliamentary elections from his house in Amchit.
The list includes Khoury and former MP Emile Nawfal for the two Maronite seats in the Jbeil district and Mustapha al-Husseini for the Shia seat.
Khoury said that the independents alliance’s main goals are to propose a new electoral law, which depends on proportionality, larger districts, decentralization, eliminating political sectarianism, forming a Senate and reactivating the Economic and Social Council, which aims to cooperate and coordinate between Lebanon’s various economic, social and vocational sectors.
He also emphasized the army’s role in protecting Lebanon and its citizens within a national defense strategy.
Nawfal in turn said that the list’s goal is to support Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir and any other person “willing to work on building the state rather than ruining it.”
