Eddé calls MP Aoun to engage in political debate
National Bloc leader Carlos Eddé called on Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun to engage in a political debate with him, saying that Aoun’s slogans were empty as “he consistently acts against them.”
Following his visit to Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, Eddé said that the attacks on the judicial system were “shameful.” The smear campaign against the judiciary was launched by opposition parties after last week’s release of the four generals held in connection with the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri.
The bloc leader accused Aoun of providing cover for Hezbollah’s attacks, which Eddé said were part of its policy to weaken the Lebanese state.
