Divisions among Christians Is the Root of the Problem
The Maronite Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir expressed on Tuesday his dismay at the divisions within the Christian community saying that the ongoing exchange of threats is "the root of the problem" in Lebanon.
"We must be one hand and one opinion to move forward with the country, for the sake of our nation and our children," Sfeir said after a meeting in Bkirki with a youth delegation from Batroun, Jbeil, Kasrawan and Metn.
"We should unite our ranks for the sake of our homeland," Sfeir added.
Sfeir is expected to reach Jordan Wednesday to participate in a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI who will carry out a pilgrimage to the Holy Land between 8 and 11 May.
