Sfeir: The patriarch does not vote for anyone
Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir said on Wednesday that “the patriarch does not vote for anyone,” adding that those destined to win, will win and vice versa. The upcoming parliamentary elections “are decisive”; however, “the winner should be Lebanon and no one else.”
Sfeir also said he was going to Jordan to welcome and accompany Pope Benedict XVI on his visit to the country.
Sfeir added that “there is no state without a judicial system, and a judicial system cannot function without the state.” He said that the case of the four generals held in connection with the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri “is in the hands of the judicial authorities.”
