Opposition target LAF, judiciary and STL
Coordinator of the March 14 General Secretariat Fares Soueid said on Thursday that the “stages of the [opposition’s] coup are unraveling, targeting the Lebanese army in an attempt to cancel the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and the Lebanese judicial system to overthrow the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
The coup also targets the constitution to impose a new division of shares” between Shia, Sunnis and Christians instead of between Christians and Muslims.
During a celebration in Jbeil, Soueid said that some insist that upcoming parliamentary elections are not “decisive, while in fact, they are a battle that will determine the nature of the state in a country that seeks stability and peace.”
The coordinator also said that the elections coincide with the escalation of Hezbollah’s fiery rhetoric and its continuous attempts to control Lebanon and the electoral battle in Jbeil.
