Lebanese-Syrian border demarcation will press Israel to implement UNSCR 1701
Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan said that Lebanon’s interest remains in the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and added if Syria’s intentions toward Lebanon are good, it will help border demarcation in order to embarrass Israel and urge it to implement the resolution.
In an interview with the Voice of Lebanon radio station on Saturday, he said those who call for a three-way division of shares between Christians, Sunnis and Shia instead of between Christians and Muslims aim to sabotage the Taif Accord.
He spoke about relations between the LF and the March 14 alliance, stating that the LF is sacrificing its individual electoral interests for the sake of the March 14 alliance. He cited the fact that the LF did not nominate candidates in the Kesrouan, Baabda, and Aley districts despite their political strength in these areas.
Adwan also said National Bloc leader Carlos Eddé has a clear political program and the LF supports his candidacy ”because we want to confront the Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s political agenda.”
He warned that “the March 14 alliance cannot make miracles, but we tell the Lebanese that if the March 8 coalition wins the upcoming parliamentary elections, the dream of the Cedars Revolution and transition to state will fail.”
Adwan said that Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri’s speeches express coexistence and moderation.
“All Lebanese should make the decision about Lebanon’s interest. No party should monopolize decision-making,” he concluded.
