Lightning before the storm – Aoun to target the presidency following elections
March 14 candidate for the Maronite seat in Kesrouan district Sejaan Kazzi said Tuesday that attacks from Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun against Lebanese President Michel Sleiman on Monday confirm suspicions that if the opposition wins the elections they will “reconsider” the president’s position.
“Aoun is ridiculing the presidency, in order to attack it after the elections,” Kazzi said, after visiting Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.
Kazzi also said that his alliance’s Kesrouan list still needs some time to be finalized, and that negotiations included no confrontations between individuals, just the occasional difference of opinion.
“When independents and partisans commit to the Christian and Lebanese points of view, there will be no need to stand against joining any candidate from Kesrouan,” he said.
