Raising the Slogan of Third Republic Is a Dangerous Development
March 14 Forces said Wednesday the slogan of the Third Republic – adopted by the minority – is a "dangerous development" in the opposition”s policy to overthrow coexistence, the Taef Accord and the National Charter.
The coalition, after its weekly meeting, described the minority”s electoral platform as another form of "coup d”etat that threatens state institutions including the presidency, the judiciary, media and the Constitution."
"It has previously targeted the economy, security institutions, the parliament and Cabinet," it said in a statement.
"Attempts to use the temporary Doha settlement as a continuation to political life, to consolidate veto power and to replace equal power-sharing with the tripartite equation is an abolition of democracy in Lebanon," it added.
On the other hand, March 14 expressed its satisfaction that the Syrian military delegation”s visit to Lebanon followed protocol and took place within the framework of equal ties between Lebanon and Syria.
The ruling coalition commended President Michel Suleiman for his "wisdom and vision" in dealing with relations between the two countries.
It called for the abolition of the Lebanese-Syrian Supreme Council after the diplomatic exchange and the appointment of ambassadors between the two countries is finalized.
