Nasrallah address will have dangerous repercussions

Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar said in an interview aired on LBC TV on Saturday morning that Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s Friday evening speech will “reshuffle cards right before the elections.”

“It would have been in the best interest of the Free Patriotic Movement for the speech to be calm and not to shock Christian voters,” he explained. He also said that he expected Nasrallah to deliver a calmer speech.

Najjar said that the speech was a response to the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. He added that speech will “bring dangerous results.”

He said that nobody in Lebanon is calling for a federal state, and instead a centralized government is necessary.

“Stability is in the best interest of Lebanon, and Lebanese leaders should play a stabilizing role rather that objecting to appointments and certain issues,” he said.

Najjar spoke about the release of the four generals, explaining that the decision to release them is not “a verdict of innocence or guilt because Judge Daniel Fransen is a pre-trial judge who cannot issue final verdicts.”

“A spy has no sect or religion, the elimination of the spy networks should continue until the end,” he said.
