Polls will be held on time –Majority will prevail
MP Strida Geagea said on Wednesday that there is no apparent threat of any security incident taking place that could obstruct the upcoming parliamentary elections, especially since no party has an interest in the elections being cancelled.
In an interview to be published on Thursday in Al-Hawadeth, Al-Bayraq, La Revue de Liban and Monday Morning newspapers, Geagea said that the majority will win by a margin of four or five MPs, stressing that the elections will be a battle that will shape Lebanon’s future.
Geagea added that Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt’s views on the March 14 alliance did not change despite his occasional opening up to opposition parties, adding that he played a big role in the Cedar Revolution.
She concluded that the security services’ uncovering of the alleged Israeli espionage cells in the past month proves that Lebanon has the potential to become a “real state.”
