Authorities Find Remains of a Syrian Truck Loaded with Torpedoes
The remains of a Syrian military truck loaded with dozens of damaged anti-tank mine-torpedoes were found Wednesday in the town of Daher Ahmar-Rashia district.
The remains were found during a private excavation workshop, in front of a house adjacent to the highway linking the city of Rashia to Masnae, particularly in the town of Daher Ahmar.
A Lebanese army force and internal security forces patrol were dispatched to the site immediately.
After examination, the army said the truck belonged to a Syrian military unit.
Residents in the neighborhood confirmed that the truck had been subject to air raids during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982.
The vehicle carried dozens of scorched anti-tank mine torpedoes due to its exposure to direct hits. As a result, it was burned and buried underground after falling in a huge crater alongside the main road caused by the raids.
