Coercion, hegemony and authoritarianism are March 8 characteristics

March 14 Shia candidate in the Zahle district Okab Sakr said Thursday that March 8 characteristics include coercion, hegemony and authoritarianism, and not values, principles and freedoms. “This does not promote a democratic election,” he said.

In an interview with al-Mustaqbal newspaper, Sakr said, “What they cannot achieve through the electoral ballots they are trying to achieve through forcing their opinion.”

He also said that this method shows the true face of the change they are calling for, which is through military force rather than constitutional means.

“MP Michel Aoun has two patterns of ‘change.’ The first is change through replacing his historical stances with new ones, while the second is coercing people’s opinions through authoritarianism and hegemony to vote for them,” the candidate said.

He also said that if anything happens to threaten his life, he holds responsible the group that shows these characteristics.
